A Southern Living Lowcountry Holiday WeekendFamilyThe Lesesne Family

Come Stay at Coastal Living’s 2017 Best Seaside Inn in America while enjoying the beginning of the Christmas Season in Beaufort, SC, Southern Living’s 2017 Best Small Town in America!

It seems like Summer has just ended here in the Lowcountry as our temperatures are now in the 70s…..awwww perfect!  This also means the season is upon us!  We will fly through Thanksgiving and on to Christmas! This year we are taking a little time to stop and give thanks for all we have, and to give back to some causes we love. Here are two worthy causes near and dear to our hearts:

- The Press On Fund - Press On’s Unique Mission is to IDENTIFY feasible and ground breaking alternative therapies for childhood cancers and to INVEST monies raised in a manner that supports the science and infrastructure needed to CURE childhood cancer within our lifetime. Our dear friends, the Chances and the Simkins, are two of the founding families of this fund and we cannot think of a more important cause to support.

- The Pat Conroy Literary Center -The Pat Conroy Literary Center cultivates a passionate and inclusive reading and writing community in honor of Pat Conroy, who dedicated his life to spreading his love for literature and writing to future generations.

Along with our friends at Southern Living Magazine, we are hosting a weekend to honor  these two great organizations. The first weekend of December (the 1st - the 3rd) we are holding a "Southern Living Inspired Event" that will include great programs, food, drink and art, all in Southern Living’s 2017 Best Small Town in America, Beaufort, SC.

We will start on Friday at checkin where all our guest will receive a copy of Cynthia Graubart’s soon to be released Southern Living Cookbook, “Sunday Suppers." Cynthia will be our guest at the inn for the weekend and she will be signing the book at Nevermore Book Store in Beaufort on Friday evening. This will be “Night on the Town” with all the shops staying open late. There will be music and dance from local groups and the evening will culminate with Santa and the lighting of the Christmas Tree downtown.

On Saturday we will start with a morning tour of Frank Robert’s Lady’s Island Oyster Farm. Southern Living recently featured Frank’s operation as one of the best sources of farmed oyster in the South. On Saturday afternoon we will take some of these great oysters, generously donated for the weekend by Frank, and hold a cooking class led by Cynthia using a recipe from her new book.

Saturday evening we will convene on the Top Deck of the Anchorage for happy hour where Michael Griffin will be on hand to unveil a new painting. We have commissioned Michael, the artist whose paintings adorn the walls of the inn, to paint a view at sunset from the Top Deck of the Anchorage. Our inn guests will receive a limited and signed print of this painting. Our very own Chef Byron Landis will serve a buffet dinner from the Top Deck as darkness  falls and we watch the “Light Up The Night Boat Parade” taking place in the bay in front of the inn.

We are excited to partner with Southern Living to put this weekend together, and we want you to be a part of this special event. The most important part is your participation! To attend the weekend we need your tax deductible donation of $200 to the Press On Fund and $200 to the Pat Conroy Literary Center. These donations will be required for your stay. We will also include a $25 per person charge for Saturday night’s dinner to your room charges (beverages will be an additional cost) . To book your room please call the inn  843-525-1770 (rooms are blocked off) and let us know that you want to be part of this opportunity to give back to these two great organizations!   We look forward to kicking off the Holiday Season with you!
