The Anchorage 1770 is a boutique waterfront inn located in historic Beaufort, SC. Built in 1770, it is the oldest and largest Tabby structure still in use. With 1500 square feet of front porches overlooking the Beaufort River, you will certainly find a perfect spot to relax with the warm breezes and the prettiest views in the Lowcountry.

Every room at Anchorage 1770 offers a varied and unique experience. While some offer 4 poster beds, waterfront views, and high ceilings, others offer stunning bay windows, original Adams Mantels and detailed plasterwork from the late 1800s. For those desiring that extra bit of privacy, a new cottage is a romantic option.

Ownership

Some people have called them crazy. Frank and Amy Lesesne haven’t just admitted it, they’ve embraced their nickname as the “insane Lesesnes,” even starting a blog called “Lowcountry Inn-Sanity.” After all, who in their right mind leaves a successful career, good friends and decades of school and community ties in Atlanta to renovate, convert and open an inn in Beaufort, South Carolina?

“I’m from Miami and have always wanted to get back to the coast,” says Amy.   The Lesesnes picked Beaufort because of the healthy tourism industry, and they picked Anchorage 1770, also known as the “Queen of the Bay” or the William Elliott House, because they fell in love at first sight.  The project developed out of a year of research covering the Beaufort and Lowcountry hospitality market. “Our real estate agent tried to get us to consider purchasing an already established inn in Beaufort,” says Frank, “but when we toured the Anchorage, we knew this was the one.”

Following graduation from Wofford College with a BA in Sociology, Amy Lesesne spent 10 years in the travel and tourism industry as a flight attendant for Delta Airlines. In 2001 she started her own photography business which she will continue to enjoy. As a co-owner, Amy will be the public “face” of the Anchorage. With her outgoing personality she will focus on making the guests’ experiences second to none.

Frank Lesesne

Owner

Frank Lesesne holds a BA from Wofford College with a double major in Business Economics and Government. He also holds a Masters in International Politics from Georgia State University. Following stints as a lobbyist and staffer at the Library of Congress, Frank traded “Potomac Fever” for the entrepreneur bug at the height of “.com” era. A self-taught interface programmer, Frank started a consulting company in 1999 which evolved into a data service that he sold in 2011. Frank has worn all the “hats” of a small businessman and has extensive experience in the use of technology in marketing and efficiency. Frank will manage the operations of the Anchorage.
