At Anchorage 1770, we think there’s really only one way to improve upon the famous bike tours of France and Italy–remove the hills. Which is why our flat Lowcountry terrain makes our cycling trips such an ideal outing for all ambitions–ride for a mile, five, ten or even 34 without a significant hill in sight. Our Bay Street location is the ideal jump point for trips to beaches, old ruins and coastal parks. Stop along the way to picnic or ride to a fun cafe.

Use the Inn’s fat-tire bikes for local jaunts or rent road bikes for longer trips. Guest services can help you pick a route and prepare a picnic basket of provisions or make a reservation at a special stopping point. Below are a few favorite trips.

Cycling Beaufort

For a leisurely and scenic walk, run or ride, the Spanish Moss Trail is a must. TheTrail is minutes from our front door and Discover South Carolina has it as one of the best bike trails in the state. Today, it has 10 miles paved along the old Magnolia railroad line.
